ASPCA’s Adopt a Shelter Dog

A few years ago, the state of California passed a resolution declaring the Shelter Pet the official California State Pet. The legislation served as a way to give a voice to the plight of shelter pets not only in the Golden State, but to all shelter pets across the nation.

The staff at Casillas Veterinary Hospitals, serving East Los Angeles, Lynwood, Montebello, and surrounding areas, is doing their part to make sure the story of shelter pets continues to be heard. That’s why we’re supporting the ASPCA’s Adopt a Shelter Dog campaign now and every month.

A Perfect Opportunity to Help Homeless Animals

Some animals end up seen at an animal hospital or veterinarian not by choice, but because they’re so debilitated and sick they have nowhere left to turn. We can nurse them back to health, but then potential adopters need to do their part.

Each year, more than 800,000 animals are taken in by California’s public and private animal shelters. Unfortunately, fewer than half of them are ever adopted or matched into permanent homes.

If you can open your heart to an animal in need, now is the perfect time to do it.

Other Ways to Make a Difference to a Shelter Dog

Contributions to the ASPCA help to support its rescues, grants, and adoption programs. Every dollar they take in can help get animals off the street and out of harm’s way. The money will provide food, shelter, and a second chance at life for a dog in need.

Additionally, the ASPCA encourages posts on your favorite social media channels and other additional outreach to help celebrate, promote, and raise awareness during this important time of year.

We hope you’ll give us a call today at 323-726-1525 if you live in East Los Angeles, Lynwood, or Montebello and have just adopted a shelter pet. We invite you to learn more about Casillas Veterinary Hospitals and the services we provide, including wellness exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and spay and neutering procedures. We look forward to meeting you.
