Spay and Neuter Services in Montebello, Lynwood and East Los Angeles

Is your pet spayed or neutered? If not, and if your pet is old enough to have the procedure done, then it’s time to talk to one of our vets about scheduling this routine surgery. Here at Casillas Veterinary Hospitals, serving the Montebello, Lynwood and East Los Angeles areas, spay and neuter procedures are just one of many veterinary services we have to offer.

Why Spay and Neuter?

By having your pet spayed or neutered, you’re not only protecting your pet’s health and wellness, but doing your part to help control the pet population in the United States. When you have your pet spayed or neutered, you can improve its temperament and protect it from any number of health problems. This is especially true in female pets, as pregnancy can result in numerous health complications.

What to Expect From Your Veterinary Team

If you’re thinking about having your pet spayed or neutered, you may be wondering what to expect when you bring your pet in to have the procedure performed by our veterinary team. We’ll always begin by explaining to you what the procedure will entail and making sure that your pet is given the proper anesthetic. The procedure itself typically doesn’t take more than 30 minutes, but we will keep your pet under observation afterwards to ensure that everything is going smoothly before discharging your pet.

In the days after the procedure, we’ll ask you to keep an eye on your pet to ensure they’re not chewing or scratching at the incision site. Most pets bounce back very quickly following this procedure, so your pet will likely be back to its happy-go-lucky and playful self in no time. In most cases, sutures will dissolve on their own, so there’s no need to bring your pet back into our office for removal of the stitches.
